This knockoff faithful replica of the Eames lounger and ottoman costs $1500. The original goes for ~ $55 00. WTF?!
Has any Opponaut graced their butt with one of these?

I’ve considered an even cheaper knockoff, but am concerned both about going too cheap, and about over cluttering with too much furniture; so I’m undecided.

My dad had one (probably a knockoff, bought at a rummage sale) in his office many years ago. I seem to recall it was pretty comfy. I think he used it to take naps.

The reason it costs so much? Herman Miller owns the exclusive rights and are massive corporate assholes.
Charles and Ray Eames designed their furniture to be affordable to bring good design to the masses. Instead, Herman Miller charges an arm and a leg to fuck over their legacy and allow only the rich to buy them.

Nope, my fancy chair is an Ekornes Stressless recliner, like this one but in black:
It is awesome, and pretty nice looking to my tastes, though certainly not as iconic as the Eames.

New roomie literally moved in tonight with one. It’s real nice and he got the employee price because his sister works at Herman Miller.

I’ve sat in one. It’s pretty comfy, but I don’t think it’s worth the money. The Ikea Poang is just as comfortable, has some neat bent wood, and costs a lot less.

I often say that if I were to stumble into millions of dollars, I would have no idea what to spend even half of it on. Then sometimes I see a thing so pretty and so expensive that I rethink.

I want to make my own - carbon fiber and white leather.
But no, I have not sat in one.

Eichler homes built in California also made good design affordable. Now, good luck finding one <$1MM

We have a pair of reproductions in our house which I think were about $2700 apiece. They are absurdly comfortable, and go quite well with the mid-century modern remodel we did (it’s a 50’s house):

One note: getting out of them can be tricky for some

One of my dreams is to have an Eames chair. I would get a white ash shell with white leather. DROOLS.

I had one, movers broke it . They are delicate because of the way they are designed. I do find them comfortable though.

I’ve had three of these! Not the fancy wood bases, but the older metal style. I love my old man chairs.

I spotted one in a dumpster whilst driving around with a ‘friend’ and knew exactly what it was. I told him to stop and we grabbed it, but he said that since it was his truck it was now his chair. Fucker.
